While the Gulf oil crisis is unique, Biloxi and its surrounding region have been continually challenged by the ebb and flow of national and international events, economic shifts and natural disasters throughout a long history.
In our series, Faith at the Gulf, Odyssey Networks takes a look at how people in and around Biloxi are dealing with the oil spill and the impact of faith on the crisis.
Excursion boat captain Joe Wofford travels to Ship Island off the coast of Mississippi several times a day. Normally at this time of year the island, and his ship, are swarming with tourists. This year however, oil containment booms circle the island and the few tourists on his boat ponder the relationship between faith, oil and our responsibilities to the Earth. Read more about Biloxi.

Faith and Environment
Peace is at the heart of our mission. Our rapidly changing environment is a growing threat to that mission as conflicts over dwindling resources spread across the globe. That is why we are continuing our commitment to environment beyond the 2009 climate change conference in Copenhagen.
