The Rev. Dr. Mark G. Vitalis Hoffman, Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Luther Seminary (MDiv, 1983), and Yale University (PhD, 1996). An ELCA pastor, he served parishes in Minnesota and North Dakota for 14 years before coming to Gettysburg. Recent areas of research include narrative and reader-response approaches to the Gospel of Mark and presentations of the parables of Jesus that highlight their experiential character. He also enjoys technology—Bible software, digital mapping and photography, cloud collaboration—and the ways it can be used in the church or his classroom. He shares his work on his CrossMarks.com and ScrollandScreen.com websites. Dr. Vitalis Hoffman’s wife is also a pastor, and together they are raising two daughters who are keeping them busy with school, sports, and music activities.
