Responding to Crisis

It is astonishing how many holocaust survivors have the inner strength to surmount horrors that seem unsurmountable and so many of us feel helpless in front of menial problems that are so easy to solve.
I always wonder what do these people have that is different from others?
Can anybody help and guide me to an answer?
